March CCDP Newsletter
Greetings Everyone!
Well, it seems as though spring is upon us. And Kristie Noem is history. While I’m not surprised, I feel like this is just more of the smoke and mirrors chaos that Trump wants us to grow accustom to.
March is going to be a very busy month starting with….
March 23, we are switching our Exec Comm. meetings back to every 4th Monday at 6 pm. We will consider earlier hours as Oct approaches.
Bledsoe Co Dems are hosting an event for Jerri Green on March 7 at 5:30. If you have not had an opportunity to meet her, here’s your chance. The event will be at 25 Municipal Dr., Pikesville, TN.
2nd Saturday at 11 am, we will host Mike Croley and Monica Mowdy as speakers. The event is at 123 Irwin Ave.
Pulled Pork Dinner will be on Thursday, March 26 at 6 pm. The new location is the Cumberland Co. Fairgrounds 1398 Livingston Rd, Dodson Multi-Purpose Room. Tickets are $20 and it is BYOB. Tickets are available at the door.
No Kings Rally from 12:30-2:30 at the Woodmere Plaza. They will be collecting for the food banks.
Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner will also be at the Cumberland Co Fairgrounds in the Community Complex, on May 8 at 6 pm. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Tickets are $60 each. If you need a vegan meal, please call Katie at 847-567-2323. Tickets can be purchased on ACT BLUE. You can either go to our website CUMBERLANDDEMOCRATS.ORG and click on the donate button. From there you can select the button for Eleanor Roosevelt Tickets or go to https://secure.actblue.com/donate/2026ccdperdinner. There is a special button just for the dinner. You can also purchase tickets at HQ at 123 Irwin Ave any weekday from 10 am – 2 pm beginning 4/13. For people in FFG, you can purchase them at the Gazebo by Wyndam any Wed from 2- 4 pm beginning 4/15. Another way is through the mail: Katie Wood-Thurnau, 19 Dockside Dr, Crossville, TN 38558.
We have our first Primary Election coming up; our County Primary. Deadlines to consider are April 6 – Last Day to Register to Vote. April 15 – 30 - Early Voting. To vote during this time-period, you need to go to the Election Commissioner at 83 Northside Ln. May 5 -Election Day. For this, you need to go to your precinct to vote. For this election, you will be voting for local offices, such as County Mayor, Superintendent of Road, County Clerk, etc.
You can register to vote by downloading the app GOVOTETN. Or come into our HQ at 123 Irwin Ave Mon – Fri 10 am – 2 pm and anyone in the office can help you to register. You could also go to the Election Commissioners office at 83 Northside Ln, Crossville, TN
Why is voting in a Primary important? It determines who goes on the ballot for the County General Election on August 6. We have 2 people running for Commissioner. Deborah Holbrook in District 8 and James Janecek in District 9. However, for this election, there is a box at the bottom of the ballot in most of our precincts indicating there were no Democrats running. PLEASE CHECK THE BOX. This helps us understand how many Democrats are in that precinct that would have voted if there had been a candidate. We need to collect this information. Do Not Hesitate to come vote, even if we do not have a candidate.
In the coming weeks, you may be getting a call from your District Reps. They just want to touch base with you and ask a few questions. We would appreciate your cooperation.
